Medical City Children’s Hospital will help present $56,000 to North Texas school districts for healthy eating improvements at a celebration on Tuesday, March 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event highlights end of year results from the Medical City Children’s Hospital kids teaching kids 21-Day Challenge and Kids Fit Menu! programs. Leadership from 14 DFW area school districts, corporate supporters, large restaurant brands and other local business partners will attend. Kroger, Reliant, United Way Dallas and other businesses will announce $56,000 in donations to area schools during the event.

Through the kids teaching kids program, Medical City Children’s Hospital registered dietitians have educated and challenged DFW culinary students to create healthier snack recipes for the past five years. Student-designed recipe books encourage children to make their own healthy snacks at home, with all of the recipes including different types of fruits and veggies. Last fall, nearly 38,000 students participated in the 21-Day Challenge.

DFW area culinary students also participate in the Medical City Children’s Hospital Kids Fit Menu! program to help incorporate at least two servings of fruits and vegetables into local restaurant menus. The Kids Fit Menu reaches youngsters in more than 330 restaurant locations nationwide.
